As of last week I own a brand spankin’ new Acer Aspire One, I am thoroughly impressed by this tiny device which performs flawlessly on Windows XP and Windows 7 (I am Dual booting just to be cool ;)) I preformed some minor miracles to get around the fact I no longer own any flash drive with more than 2gb of space except my Beloved P2, and I refuse to delete my music to transfer Windows 7 to my Aspire thus I was left with one choice: Switch out the drives in order to partition and copy my Acer HD, this was fairly risky I guess but the operation went flawlessly!! and I now have three computers with Windows 7 , which is in my opinion the smoothest operating system from Microsoft (including Windows XP)
My next predicament was transferring certain essential files to my new machine as I had misplaced my one LAN cable. Yes I could have created and Ad Hoc network which I later did but for now I was stumped as to how to efficiently transfer my files :(( Enter Windows Live Sync I had used this before to back up some images but never fully explored it. It is a beautiful tool allowing you to easily sync folders between different computers and keep them synced. It even allows you to sync with other people via public folders. I fully recommend you download it if you haven’t already , it comes with Windows Live Essentials and if you have already downloaded the essentials pack there is a good chance its lurking in the programs folder of your computer under Windows Live Sync.
On a sadder note I am on the verge of breaking my NO APPLE rule. The new Iphone 3Gs has just been released and unfortunately its a device too good to completely ignore (as I type these words a shudder crawls through me at the thought of installing itunes on my beloved computers) although the massive price tag makes it slightly easier at $699 for the device without a lengthy plan its definitely a phone for the rich, however on a three year term (that’s THREE YEARS with a minimum monthly rate around $55) it’s just affordable. C’mon Samsung, RIM, Palm, Microsoft, HTC build a phone to kill this thing!!
